The Most Expensive Diamond in the World. How much did it sell for?

According to Forbes, a new world record has been set for most expensive diamond sold at auction. The "Oppenheimer Blue", one of the rarest gemstones in the world sold for $57.5 million. The 14.62 carat emerald cut diamond had been owned by Sir Phillip Oppenheimer.

The sale beat out the "Blue Moon of Josephine", a 12.03ct cushion shaped diamond, which sold in November 2015 for a then record price of $48.4 million. What a unique and beautiful gem.
